Goodwood's Water Tower Preservation in Progress Party

Goodwood's Water Tower Preservation in Progress Party

Presented by Goodwood Museum & Gardens and Florida Trust for Historic Preservation at Goodwood Museum and Gardens

Join us for the Preservation in Progress Party, an evening celebrating the preservation of the Goodwood Water Tower. Hosted by Goodwood Museum & Gardens and the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation, the event will include live music, delicious treats, and an opportunity to thank those who preserve the water tower - and historic places around the state - possible. Built around 1912, the Goodwood water tower was built by Fanny Tiers who used Goodwood as a retreat for her New York City socialite friends. The tower was necessary as water mains were not available when the estate was considered outside the city limits, and Fanny wanted to have running water. The structure was damaged through time and from multiple hurricanes, but restoration of the tower allows this important sentinel to Florida history to remain standing. Because of its significance and the severity of the threat, it was facing, the tower was included on the Florida Trust's 2019 Florida's 11 to Save, the list of the most endangered historic places in the state. Included in your ticket are heavy hors d'oeuvres, two drink tickets, and special live entertainment.
