TSO's Friends Old and New

TSO's Friends Old and New

Presented by Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall - Florida State University

The TSO opens the final concert of its season with the Florida
premiere of a new work by Christopher Theofanidis, a composer
possessing a unique and eloquent vision. Part of a commissioning
consortium, the new piece will receive its US premiere in Plymouth,
MA on October 7, 2015.* Closing out the first half is Mendelssohn’s
Italian symphony. Known for his appreciation of history, the composer
adapted ancient Italianate dances and folk-inspired melodies
throughout this virtuosic, rustic piece. Last on the program is Dvořák’s
seminal cello concerto, played by British master Colin Carr. Slavic in
sentiment and style, this composition offers a heartfelt, triumphant
journey for performers and audiences alike.
