There’s just something about the late October South Georgia air that sends spirits soaring. After a long hot summer, even the birds seem more cheerful on these cool fall mornings, anticipating and celebrating the season ahead. It’s somewhat symbolic, considering this is also the time of year that Thomasville gears up to celebrate our region’s unique wildlife and sporting traditions at Thomasville Center for the Arts’ annual Wildlife Arts Festival. From November 10-20, the festival will present over a dozen art-inspired events spread throughout Thomasville and the greater Red Hills region, showcasing some of the world’s most celebrated wildlife and sporting artists, top-shelf handcrafted goods, southern bites and libations, lively outdoor social events, and an array of family-friendly wildlife encounters and art experiences.

Honoring the 27th year of the Wildlife Arts Festival, 27 professional interior designers, artists, and architects collaborated to create wood and acrylic artworks reflecting the unique characteristics of our area habitats. Tall Timbers, Aucilla & Wacissa Water Group, and Birdsong Nature Center provided the exhibiting artists with features and images special to our land, water, and sky to inform and inspire their work.

The Wildlife Arts Festival’s opening reception on November 10 at the UnVacant Lot and the Fine Art Show on November 19 & 20 (including the Scouts Artisan Market, Land & Lore lectures, and Go Wild! youth art floor activities) are free, family-friendly events. A full festival schedule, including ticket information for workshops and parties and underwriter packages, can be found at thomasvillearts.org/wildlife or by calling Thomasville Center for the Arts at 229-226-0588.
