Rod MacDonald

Presented by Blue Tavern Tallahassee at Blue Tavern

Rod MacDonald was born in Connecticut and began singing professionally in New York City, where he headlined Greenwich Village clubs in the 1980s and recorded 21 songs now in the Smithsonian Folkways collection. Now living in south Florida, he’s been named “Best Local Acoustic Artist” by New Times, one of “Ten Magnificent Musicians of Palm Beach County” by The Palm Beach Post, appeared mainstage in the Florida Folk, South Florida Folk, and Will McLean Folk Festivals, and released 13 solo cds of thoughtful and inspiring songs that have also been covered by Shawn Colvin, Jonathan Edwards, and other artists. Fort Lauderdale’s Labyrinth Café noted “his personal commitment to communicating events that have affected and shaped our world’s societies…with lyrics and music that are infectious and inspiring, often humorous, sometimes reckless, frequently evocative, usually thought provoking – and – always compelling. Rod’s songs will stay in your heart and mind long after the music has ended.”
