Cord/Rope-Making Workshop

Cord/Rope-Making Workshop

Presented by Mission San Luis at Mission San Luis

Whether you are a crafter, DIYer, survivalist, or just love channeling the past, making your own cordage and rope is a very satisfying skill to have. Make beautiful baskets, jewelry, and cloth, lash things together, make fishing line like the Apalachees, and more. The uses are only limited by your imagination.

This workshop will introduce participants to making three types of cord from the following materials: Spanish moss, yucca leaves, and mulberry bark. The simple reverse twist to ply cordage will be taught with techniques that the Apalachee used and have been around for thousands of years. Keep the tradition alive!

Pre-registration is required and must be received at least one week prior to the workshop date (June 11). Call 850.245.6406.
