Haiqiong Deng & Friends

Haiqiong Deng & Friends

Presented by The Center for Music of the Americas, FSU College of Music at Blue Tavern

We're honored to host Dr. Haiqiong Deng, virtuoso performer on the Chinese 21-string guzheng and 7-string guqin, two plucked zithers with more than 2500-year-old history throughout Asia in April. Dr. Deng (an alumna of FSU's graduate program in Ethnomusicology and a Florida Folklife Master Artist) will be joined by bassist David Cobb, pianist Dr. Yue Sun, and tabla player Adrienne Ruhl to present a program of traditional and modern Chinese classical and folk music - as well as world premieres of two new compositions - that is sure to delight the ear and inspire the mind.

Admission Info

As always, cover charge is a nominal $5, and Blue Tavern will be serving its justifiably renowned filé gumbo, red beans and rice, sandwiches (including vegetarian and vegan options) and a variety of beer, wine, coffee, tea, and soft drinks. Hope to see you there!
