An International Music Happy Hour Event where audiences will enjoy traditional masterpieces and contemporary music created by two Chinese musical instruments—the 21-string guzheng and the 7-string guqin.
This concert will be the first live recital Dr. Haiqiong Deng has presented since the pandemic. Dr. Haiqiong Deng is a master of the ancient 21-string Chinese guzheng and the 7-string guqin. She is the recipient of the 2021-22 Florida Specific Cultural Project Grant, the 2017 Florida Cultural Heritage Award, 2013 Florida Individual Artist Fellowship, and 2012 the Master Artist of the Florida Folklife Apprenticeship Award. Dr. Deng has promoted traditional and new music in the last two decades and performed and lectured in various venues, including universities, museums, folk festivals, and communities. She has also premiered and recorded new compositions at national and international festivals and conferences by composers from several countries. Dr. Deng has taught at Florida State University, the University of South Florida, and Tallahassee Community College. Flowing Water brings cultural knowledge and musical insights to the audience by presenting traditional masterpieces and contemporary music of two Chinese musical instruments - the 21 string Guzheng and the 7 string guqin - both contain cultural and musical heritage. The first half of the program focuses on the guqin, and the second half on the Guzheng. Dr. Deng also has also invited her friend Dr. Sun Yue as the piano accompanist to present 2 pieces in this concert. The performance will be held in the ground floor Perkins Hall at MOH.

There is plenty of street parking around the building on all sides. There is also a large city lot across from the courthouse. After hours (after 5 pm) the Monticello News allows us to make use of their lot. Street parking around the back of the building is also available.
