Florida JAM: Tallahassee

Program description

Florida JAM: Tallahassee

The Florida State Fiddlers Association is excited to announce a new opportunity for Tallahassee area youth, The Florida JAM: Tallahassee project! We will offer workshops and jams, focused on learning the traditional music of our region, for young people (under 18) in Tallahassee. The classes will focus on traditional bluegrass, old time, and Celtic music and will be taught mostly by ear. The workshops will be led by local artists known for their teaching and artistry and each class will be followed by a jam session which will be open to family members or friends that want to join in. The classes will be inclusive and accessible for all who wish to participate. Please let us know if you would need financial assistance in order to participate and we will do our best to accommodate your situation.

Enrollment is by the term, and each term is roughly 3 months long (approximately 10 classes per term).

Spring 2023 term: February through April

Summer 2023 term: May through July

Fall 2023 term: September through November

Classes/jams will be held each week (with a few exceptions for holidays, etc) and will cost $100 per semester (roughly $10 per class). We will do our best to find a time that works best for participants! Partial scholarships will be available for students that need it in order to participate.
