Lichgate on High Road is an enchanted English Tudor style cottage that was the home of an exceptional educator, Dr. Laura Jepsen. Beautifully tranquil grounds with a majestic live oak tree, several gardens and a labyrinth provide the setting for the Institute’s emphasis on community cooperation, land stewardship, ecological awareness, and a simple yet philosophical approach to life. Guests may also visit the Children’s Shakespeare Garden and Outdoor Classroom. This magical garden is intended to inspire a child’s imagination while encouraging learning through Shakespeare’s literary works. The garden aspires to engage children in literature, science, math, and ecology. The children’s garden features edible fruits and vegetables, root view garden, hop scotch and fairy houses with a Midsummer Night’s Dream theme. The Children’s Garden also features an outdoor educational center that host a myriad of community events and workshops.
