Jan Godown Annino

Jan Godown Annino writes fiction and non-fiction in Florida, where she moved as a child, from rural New Jersey. Her books include: She Sang Promise: The Story of Betty Mae Jumper, an inspiring tale of one of modern America’s first female elected tribal leader. Jan’s poetry is published for young readers in the anthology, “Stories From Where We Live,” South Atlantic & Piedmont edition, and also by The Marjorie Kiannan Rawling Society, and further in 2014, for Ethiopian young readers in cooperation with a U.S.A. Peace Corps’ special project. The Florida Book Awards honored Jan’s picture book, She Sang Promise: The Story of Betty Mae Jumper, Seminole Tribal Leader, with the gold medal in children’s literature. The American Library Association listed it a Top 10 book in the Amelia Bloomer List. It is also a notable trade social studies book.
