With the vision of “lighting our community through visual art,” the Gadsden Arts Center features the work of local and regional fine artists in all media. Begun in 1994, the Center hosts exhibits throughout the year. The Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am-5 pm.

Exhibition Tours

Program description

Students visit the gallery and tour current exhibitions, guided by a trained docent or our Education Coordinator. Students also enjoy related studio activities to explore mediums and techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, and printmaking. 2014-15 featured exhibitions include: Michael Harrell & Wendy Durand, 26th Art in Gadsden: Annual Juried Exhibition, Tim Myrick: A Southern State of Mind & North Florida Woodturners, the American Society of Marine Artists, and the Gadsden Arts Center Artists Guild. Tours are catered to the instructor’s curriculum goals, and can be adapted in length to fit the school schedule.

Space / technical requirements:

Teachers must provide information about any special needs for their students. They must go over the rules of visiting a gallery (provided by Gadsden Arts) before coming to the gallery. All tours must be scheduled at least two weeks ahead of time, and can be groups of 5-30 individuals.
