The John G. Riley Center & Museum is seeking volunteer museum docents. The docents will represent the Riley Museum to the students, teachers, and other visitors taking guided tours of the Museum. It is the docent who provides the personal touch and attention to what can be a person’s first experience in a museum. As a docent, one has the potential to initiate lifelong interest and appreciation for the arts and sciences by providing interactive and engaging tours to our museum audience.

Docents are dynamic, dedicated Riley Museum volunteers with diverse backgrounds who lead tours of the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions for school groups, families, and adults. No previous teaching or art history experience is required as Docents attend a monthly training session with Museum staff in order to learn about the tours offered by the Riley Museum, the history of the Riley House, the permanent collection, and Smokey Hollow Commemoration site. Once training is completed, Docents make a weekly or monthly commitment of their time that makes the Museum’s tour programs possible. If you are interested in becoming docent at the Riley Museum, please email Paige Lee at paige.lee@talgov.com or call 850-891-3560.
