LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library would like to invite you to participate in our recognition of Florida’s May 20th Emancipation Day. This day marks the anniversary of when the emancipation was proclaimed in Tallahassee on May 20, 1865.

We are seeking poets to speak about freedom and invite you to create a video of you reading your original poetry to be featured on @LeonCountyLibrary's instagram.

Submission Guidelines:

-For poets 18+

-Deadline is May 7th

-Videos should be no longer than 2-minutes

-Vertical or square video preferred

-Please upload file as .mp4 or .mov format

-Submissions should be 30MB or smaller.

-Poetry must be the original work of the person submitting.

-Submissions cannot contain profanity, references to gang activity, or references to alcohol or tobacco use.

Please note that these submissions will be made public; by submitting your video you consent to having your work displayed on the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library’s social media outlets, the library’s website, and potentially used for promotional efforts.
