Primary Job Description:

Assist the Mission San Luis Education Department in creating programming to inform the public of the history of Mission San Luis. Other duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct historical and practical research for museum programming, including special events
  • Staff public programs and events
  • Docent historic site tours for guests of all ages and backgrounds
  • Maintain neatness and cleanliness in all areas [historic and non-historic] including shared office, kitchen, and living spaces.
  • As needed, conduct outreach programs, perform first person “Living History” interpretation to the public, participate in museum maintenance projects, and other duties as required.

KSAs:

  • Comfortable with public speaking, and able to give tours to large groups.
  • Ability to research and communicate effectively [written and oral presentations].
  • Must be able to work the weekly hours and have a flexible schedule.
  • Able to work outdoors and stand for long periods of time.
  • Maintain a cordial relationship with Mission San Luis staff. Enjoys working as a team to accomplish goals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
