McKee Botanical Garden is a historic 18-acre tropical hammock located in Vero Beach on Florida’s Treasure Coast. The mission of McKee is “to nurture and enhance a historic garden in a unique tropical setting for the education, enjoyment and enrichment of all.”

In late 2018, the Garden will open a near one-acre Children’s Garden at McKee to appeal to our younger visitors, designed specifically for those ages 3-9 years old. The mission of the Children’s Garden at McKee is “to create a fun and whimsical outdoor destination that inspires imagination and curiosity in
children through interaction, education and exploration. The Children’s Garden at McKee will nurture a powerful bond between children and nature.” In keeping with that mission, three specific sculpture groupings have been incorporated into the design for the Children’s Garden at McKee.

Work Media:
The Garden will build on its legacy of support of the art industry with permanent sculptures in the Children’s Garden at McKee. In selecting entries for the Children’s Garden at McKee, emphasis will be placed on artwork that will endure intense weather events, heavy use, and the passage of time. Special consideration will be given to those that incorporate sustainable materials, though sculpture can be submitted using any medium. When choosing submissions, please keep in mind that sculptures may be exposed to full sun during the day and will be played upon by small children. Works should be at child scale with consideration of child safety as outlined by the requirements of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
