Public Information Specialist/Outreach Coordinator

The Office of External Affairs, Florida Department of State is seeking a Public Information Specialist to serve as Outreach Coordinator. This is a full time State of Florida career service position that advances outreach, public engagement, and development activities for museums and historic sites, including the Museum of Florida History, Knott House Museum, Mission San Luis, and The Grove Museum. The incumbent works collaboratively with the museum/site directors and other staff to increase awareness of the resources of the Office of External Affairs and to expand its audiences. Specific duties include planning and coordinating outreach initiatives, writing and communication, research, evaluation, public speaking and presentations, and assisting with public events. Some evening and weekend work required. Qualifications include a four-year degree in communications, public relations, journalism, business management, humanities, cultural studies, or related field and three years of relevant professional experience involving planning, communication, public outreach, and project implementation.  Experience with museums, cultural organizations, tourism, or government is preferred.
