Meet the Panelists: 

Samantha Strickland, Owner/CEO of The Pod Advertising

Sam holds bachelors and masters degrees from FSU’s School of Communications and has won over a dozen national financial industry marketing awards, including the All Florida Golden Image Award for FCCU’s weLiveFIT! Challenge campaign. Sam served as Vice President of Growth and Brand Management for First Commerce Credit Union for over 12 years and holds an extra special passion in her heart for the “good guys of banking.” She has been featured in 850 Magazine, Tallahassee Woman Magazine, and Tallahassee Magazine and is heavily involved with FSU’s College of Motion Picture Arts.

 

Anosh Gill, Creative Director for Sachs Media Group

Anosh Gill is an acclaimed creative director and educator with more than 20 years of international design experience. Anosh has provided design services for hundreds of clients including municipalities, government agencies, travel destinations, and educational organizations. His work has earned more than 60 awards in advertising, design, and illustration. As a graphic design instructor at Florida A&M University, his students have won ADDY® Awards in nearly every nominated category. Believes designers are communicators first and foremost, so he approaches every design project with a communication strategy. Loves to find beauty in all things big and small, from other artists’ work to the intricate and often delicate artistry found in nature. Earned an M.F.A. in Media Design from Full Sail University and a B.S. in Industrial and Product Design from The Ohio State University.

 

Lucia Fishburne, Past Executive Director of the Florida Book Awards

Lucia Fishburne is a life-long advocate for the creative industries in Florida. Most recently, she served as the Executive Director of the Florida Book Awards, administered by Florida State University’s Strozier Library. Lucia has also assisted the FSU College of Communication and Information (CCI) as a research associate. Prior to her work at FSU, Lucia directed the Executive Office of the Governor as Florida’s State Film Commissioner where she was responsible for leading the state’s efforts to build, expand and retain the film, TV and digital media entertainment industry sector. She was appointed to that position following ten years of service in the workforce and economic development arena in Florida.

Lucia holds a MS degree from Florida State University in marketing communications and an accreditation in public relations (APR). Spurred by her love of music and performance, Lucia has toured as a professional singer/songwriter throughout the southeast. Highlights of her creative accomplishments include an original composition featured in the Victor Nunez film, “Ruby in Paradise” (the top film at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival), and Composer/Performer/Producer credits for “Algebra TV,” winner of the Milia ’95 international multimedia conference in Cannes, France.
