South Arts’ Challenge America Grants are offering up to $10,000 for projects that reach historically underserved communities with rich and dynamic cultural identities. Grants are awarded in all artistic disciplines for a wide variety of arts projects.

This program has an abbreviated application and lots of opportunities for technical help. This is an excellent grant program for those new to federal funding.

Only US-based non-profits, units or state or local government or federally recognized tribal communities may apply. Applicants may not currently have an open NEA grant.

This grant requires a 1:1 cost-share. To receive $10,000, the applicant should submit a proposal that costs at least $20,000.

Important Dates:

  • There will be a guidelines webinar on February 28, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
  • The application is due by April 25, 2024
