Eliza Schneider-Green, born in 1995, is a photographer, singer-songwriter, and painter hailing from Tallahassee, Florida.  Eliza was the featured artist at Southern Exposure Gallery in Railroad Square in 2016, where she displayed photographs from two of her ongoing series. She has had her photography featured in COCA's 30 Under 30 exhibit in 2015, as well as in COCA's annual juried art exhibit, Creative Tallahassee, at the Tallahassee Airport in 2015 and 2016.  During her time at Tallahassee Community College, she had her photographs publish in their literary magazine, the EYRIE as well as in the annual student exhibition in 2012 through 2015. Her commercial photography was published in Flamingo Magazine’s inaugural issue in 2015, and she continues to photograph locally.  In the One Hundred Hats Project, The Interior Portrait Series, and a project entitled Portrait of a Woman, Eliza combines her love of vintage clothing, historic costuming, and interior design with self-portrait photography, creating images influenced by the work of Wes Anderson, Louise Dahl Wolfe, and Irving Penn.  She photographs digitally and on film, and draws on haute couture fashion photography from the 1940s and 1950s as well as traditional tin-type portrait styles from the 1860s and the composition of painted portraits from the 18th century.

In addition to her photographic work, Eliza paints and designs for The Silk and Cotton Shop, which she owns and operates.  She works with acrylic gouache and watercolor, combining architectural details with flora and text, creating original paintings and greeting cards for all occasions. She sells online and participates in local craft fairs and artist marketplaces.

In the performing arts, Eliza has been a singer since she was 12, first in musical theater and then in her three-piece folk band, Liza and the Wise Guys. With Liza and the Wise Guys she has performed at the Florida Folk Festival in 2017 and 2018, as well as The Northside Stage, The Blue Tavern, Fifth and Thomas, Bird’s, Black Dog on the Square, and numerous private shows. She began writing her own songs in 2017, fusing traditional folk elements with the darkness and mystery of Southern Gothic storytelling. Her love for jazz and Big Band music cannot be overlooked, and influences both her songwriting and her vocal style.  Growing up in a musical household, she was exposed to her musical idols from an early age, including Kay Starr, Patsy Cline, Billy Holiday, Carole King, Dolly Parton, George Gershwin, Django Reinhardt, Alison Krauss, Lee Morse, Rhiannon Giddens, and Leon Redbone.  After learning to play guitar six years ago on a borrowed instrument, she now plays a black and orange sunburst Epiphone named Dolly Parton.

Eliza is currently studying Art History at Florida State University and lives in downtown Tallahassee with her mom and three cats.  She spends her spare time exploring nature, writing short stories, and cooking.
