Diane Dyal is originally from Rhode Island and lived in Boston as well working as a graphic artist and typesetter. She studied at the Community College of Rhode Island where she received and AA degree but is basically self-taught with her graphics and painting. Moving to Tallahassee in 1991 she continued her work in graphics and computer pagination then she moved to Eastpoint and started to paint abstract acrylics in 2006. Then after moving to Panacea in 2008, the artist started concentrating on painting cats. Entering the annual Artist's Magazine contest, she won first prize in the animal/wildlife division with a large painting of her cat. She was then invited to have a solo exhibit of her cat paintings at Renditions, An Art Space in Railroad Square Art Park. Interest in the artist followed with gallery representation at 1020 Art. Branching out, she began painting still lifes, various animals, sea life and cityscapes. Then moving back to Tallahassee in 2017, she adopted a free-spirited, expressionistic style of painting concentrating on cityscapes in the Big Bend Area. The artist states: "I am highlighting the obvious by creating a new perspective on taken for granted structures." Dyal now also has gallery representation at River's Edge Art Gallery in Apalachicola. She is happy to have exhibited at: City Hall Art Gallery, LeMoyne Arts, Southern Exposure Art Gallery, 621 Art Gallery, Jefferson Arts and FSU Museum of Fine Arts.
