Diane Dyal is from Rhode Island and lived in Boston where she ran the art department of an offset printer utilizing her graphic arts and typesetting skills. She received an AA degree from the Community College of Rhode Island but is basically self-taught with her graphics and painting. Moving to Tallahassee in 1991 she worked doing computer layout then moved to coast and started to paint abstract acrylics in 2006. The artist entered the annual Artists' Magazine competition, and won first place in the animal/wildlife division with a painting of her cat. She was then invited to have a solo exhibit of her cat paintings at Renditions, An Art Space in Railroad Square Art Park. Branching out, she began painting still lifes, various animals, sea life and cityscapes. Then moving back to Tallahassee in 2017, she adopted a free-spirited, impressionistic style of painting concentrating on cityscapes of taken-for-granted subject matter. Dyal now has gallery representation at SideTrax Studio in Railroad Square. She is happy to have exhibited at: City Hall Art Gallery, LeMoyne Arts, Southern Exposure Art Gallery, 621 Gallery, Jefferson Arts and FSU Museum of Fine Arts. Currently the artist is working with mixed media which she enjoys very much.
