Ms. Masterson received her undergraduate musical training at Boston University and Colorado State University, and she holds a Masters degree in music performance from Washington State University. Her musical training included study with Roman Totenberg, Alfred Schneider, Willfred Schwartz and Elisa Barston (violin) and Eugene Lehner (chamber music), and participation in coaching sessions with Menahem Pressler of the Beaux Arts Trio.

Ms. Masterson has had an active career as both teacher and performer. A teacher of “traditional method” in private studio since 1976, Ms. Masterson later pursued in-depth teacher training in the Suzuki method. She served as a faculty member of the Walla Walla Valley Suzuki Program in Washington state from 1995-1998, and she established an active Suzuki studio in her home after moving to Gainesville, Florida in the fall of 1998. While in Washington, Ms. Masterson also served as an adjunct instructor of violin at Whitman College (1989-1997). She currently maintains a private violin studio in Tallahassee and is a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Masterson’s performance duties have included positions as associate concertmaster of the Fort Collins (Colorado) Symphony Orchestra, violinist with the Fine Arts Trio, concertmaster of the Mid-Columbia Symphony Orchestra (Washington), and concertmaster of the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra. In addition, she has performed for the past 20 summers as a member of the Oregon Coast Music Festival Orchestra.
