Capital City Bands of TCC
The concert and jazz bands at Tallahassee Community College make up a musical performing organization called the Capital City Bands of TCC. Both groups provide local nonprofessional musicians the opportunity to play together and perform for the community.
The Concert Band presents concerts annually in Tallahassee Community College’s Turner Auditorium, at Westminster Oaks Retirement Community in the Maguire Center, at the Senior Center, in front of the Capitol Building before the Springtime Tallahassee Parade, and before the Winter Festival Parade. Music selections are from the standard concert band repertoire and suitable for young and old alike.
Rehearsals are Mondays, 7:15 to 9:00 p.m. in room CH165 of the Communications and Humanities building on the campus of Tallahassee Community College, 444 Appleyard Dr., Tallahassee, FL 32304. The season runs September through July.
Membership is open to Tallahassee Community College students for credit and to any member of the community on a volunteer basis. An audition is not required to join the concert band, but any person wishing to join should be able to read music and play their instrument at an adequate level of proficiency. In most cases, band members must provide their own instruments.
The Jazz Band performs at a variety of venues and festivals throughout the greater Tallahassee area. Music played by this group includes Big Band, jazz, blues, pop, and light rock.
