The Second Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program serves children in our community who have experienced abuse, abandonment, and neglect. We are a volunteer based organization that pairs well trained volunteer child advocates with the children throughout the duration of an open child welfare case. Our volunteers meet with the children regularly to make sure that they are doing well and getting any additional services needed. The goal of our program is to help children reach home through heartfelt advocacy. We want to make sure that when a case closes these children have a permanent, safe loving home where they can thrive! Our program also promotes normalcy for our children. If they have a particular interest, whether that be in arts, sports, science etc. we try to get them plugged in with local opportunities. We have partnered with a couple of arts and dance programs in town who have sponsored some of our children. 621 Gallery was established in 1981 and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1989. The governing force behind the 621 Gallery consists of a Board of Directors who are members of the Tallahassee community with an interest in sustaining the arts in this region. 621 Gallery is committed to bringing contemporary art, artists, ideas, and programs to the North Florida and South Georgia region. Monthly program offerings include monthly educational programming for children and adults, monthly literary readings, musical, theatrical and dance performances, as well as participation several times a year in outdoor festivals at Railroad Square Art Park.

Ability1st is a non-profit, community-based agency that provides services to persons with all kinds of disabilities. We serve six counties, including: Leon, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, Gadsden, and Wakulla. Ability1st, formerly the Center for Independent Living of North Florida, is part of a nation-wide network that was founded by Ed Roberts. Our vision is to empower persons with disabilities to live independently and participate actively in their community, to increase the public's awareness of disability issues, and to strengthen the community's capacity to fully meet the needs of its citizens with disabilities by actively involving staff, board and consumers in local and state systems advocacy on issues that impact the individuals across disability populations.

Able Artists Gallery and Print Shop

Able Artists Gallery and Print Shop, which opened May 2021, is a non-profit gallery located in the Railroad Square Art District gallery of Tallahassee, Florida. All Art displayed and for sale are the works of talented differently-abled artists. The gallery's giclee wide-format printers produce affordable, professional printing on archival papers or canvas for both the gallery's artists, photographers and outside customers. It is the mission of the Gallery is to enhance the lives of differently-abled individuals while bringing awareness of the artistic talent that lies within the population of individuals with disabilities. Other than donating and volunteering, the best way to support the gallery and its artists is by purchasing our artwork or utilizing our professional art and photography printing services. Support of our gallery facilitates hope, pride, and opportunity.

ACERS (Arts & Cultural Experiences of Railroad Square)

Our mission is to foster Arts & CUltural experiences at Railroad Square Art District for Tallahassee’s residents and visitors alike. our initiatives FIRST FRIDAYS For the past 20 years, Railroad Square has best been known for the exciting and popular First Friday festival. This festival offers a lively, enjoyable experience with open galleries/shops, live music, and food. Railroad Square’s First Fridays have been recognized nationally by Forbes and Huffington Post and is Tallahassee’s most popular, longest-running monthly cultural event! As of Sept 2020, this staple Tallahassee event is being organized and hosted by ACERS (virtually for now). Tune in — and watch past productions — on Facebook or YouTube . ART GARDEN EVENTS The Art Garden is Railroad Square’s event venue, with overflow capacity up to 3,000 people. This recently built amenity is the “town square” of the art district. The surrounding shops, greenspace, colorful murals, and central location make it a fantastic community gathering space. Using this venue, ACERS will host events highlighting a variety of artistic mediums and cultural/community interests. The Art Garden will be available for other approved community uses as well. ARTS INCUBATOR Artists need both inspirational studio space to create and also well-trafficked gallery space to display their work to the public. Most artists can’t afford to have both. ACERS hopes to work with Railroad Square to repurpose the Breezeway Marketplace (right next to the new Hyatt Hotel) into an affordable space for artists to both create and sell their work, an incubator or co-working facility for artists much like the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA or Oolite Arts in Miami, FL

All Saints Culture Club

This space will never be the same space twice! The All Saints Culture Club is a new ALL-PURPOSE performing arts, exhibition, educational, rental, and creative co-working space in the heart of the historic All Saints arts and culture district of Tallahassee! It is whatever today’s organizers and users need it to be. On First Friday it may be a mash up of 6 events and a dance party in one evening. The next day, we may be hosting music or painting classes. Throughout the week it is a studio space for members. And on other days it may be a place for group meetings or socials. All we are missing is you! (In the former Bread And Roses Food Coop.)

America's Second Harvest Of The Big Bend Inc.

Second Harvest of the Big Bend is the Food Bank for the 11 county Big Bend area. Second Harvest works with 135 partner agencies to provide food to children, seniors, and families living in poverty. Second Harvest works with arts organizations, community groups, the business community and individuals to raise the awareness of food insecurity as well as raising food and funds for its programs. Blue Jeans & Blazers is Second Harvest's largest annual event held at the warehouse with music, dancing, a cooking contest and an awesome silent auction. Second Harvest also partners with various arts organizations and events around the community raise food and funds.

Apalachicola Area Historical Society

The Apalachicola Area Historical Society (AAHS) is a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving and promoting the area's history. AAHS welcomes you as a member and supporter. STEWARDS OF THE RANEY HOUSE The Historical Society manages the David G. Raney House Museum located at 128 Market Street (at the corner of Avenue F) in historic downtown Apalachicola. The Museum is owned by the City of Apalachicola, operated by the Apalachicola Area Historical Society and supported by the Franklin County Tourist Development Council. The Raney House has new expanded hours open to the public 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesday-Saturday. We are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Admission is free but door donations are accepted. Special tour group requests to visit the David Raney House may be arranged at any time. Please call 850-653-1700 to make an appointment. FUN EVENTS WITH A PRESERVATION PURPOSE The Historical Society hosts two "Ghost Walks" in Apalachicola's historic Chesnut Street Cemetery. One is held on the first Saturday in May and the other is on the last Saturday in October . Re-enactors dress up in period costumes and spin a tale about some of Apalachicola's earliest inhabitants. Proceeds from the event are used for cemetery preservation purposes.

Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art

The Center is dedicated to history, culture and arts education and artistic enrichment.These visual art programs will highlight the history, maritime culture and natural resources of the city and region. Programs at the center develop the capabilities of artists and aspiring artists from both the local and national art community by teaching the fundamentals of representational art and providing the general public the opportunity to participate in visual arts programs. The Director, with the Chairman of the Board, is charged to develop a plan to coordinate, organize, implement an annual program to include historic, cultural and art instruction for adults and youth, education programs/events, scheduling exhibits and fundraising to cover the cost of program management, assistance for financially challenged students and exhibits/programs held in other locations in the city. A combination of nationally recognized and local/regional teaching artists are contracted to provide instruction. The Director and Docents are used to operate the facility and to implement programs.

Artist Series of Tallahassee

The Artist Series of Tallahassee works to foster an appreciation of classical music, promote and encourage music performance, and increase the depth, diversity, and profile of classical music audiences in Tallahassee and greater North Florida. The 2016-17 Concert Season marks our 22nd anniversary presenting a diverse selection of outstanding classical music performances by renowned ensembles and brilliant emerging soloists. Artist Series concerts take place in beautiful Opperman Music Hall on the FSU campus. The intimate setting gives patrons a chance to see the visiting performers up close in a venue with wonderful acoustics. Past visiting artists include the Takács String Quartet; "Baroque Music and Dance"; PROJECT Trio; Harlem String Quartet; Vassily Primakov, piano; Imani Winds; Bella Hristova, violin; the Brentano String Quartet, Zuill Bailey, 'cello, and Chanticleer. Each year the Artist Series selects an acclaimed classical music ensemble as Artist-in Residence. The nationally award winning program includes multiple outreach workshops for underserved or marginalized people, and a regionally marketed public concert.

B Sharps Jazz Society brings many musical performances to the National Register, Listening Room at 648 W Brevard Street in Tallahassee's Frenchtown. Jazz, Chamber Music, acoustic music of all kinds are presented. The Listening room is small and the experience is an intimate engagement with the music. Whether local musicians, students or internationally known musicians, the music is the focus of any event scheduled. To that end, loud talking and conversations are not allowed. The audience is there to listen and respect the musicians' talent and their performances. We are very lucky to have such a "room" in Tallahasee, and we are lucky to have so many talented musicians living here. Barony of Oldenfeld

The Barony of Oldenfeld is part of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA), an international, 503(c) non-profit, educational organization designed as a hands-on, learn-by-doing model to research and re-create European life prior to 1600. We then attempt to practice and teach what we have learned as authentically as possible, by constructing reproductions of medieval artifacts, practicing the arts and crafts we have researched, learning to fight with a sword and shield, and so on. The SCA also attempts to create an atmosphere embodying those lost ideals that are found in medieval romance: chivalry, honor, and courtesy. Our goal is to re-create the Middle Ages as they should have been, without the strife and pestilence, but with an attempt to preserve the ideals of beauty, grace, chivalry, and fellowship.

Big Bend Community Orchestra

The Big Bend Community Orchestra (BBCO) brings musicians together to share the benefits of music with one another and the community. It provides opportunities for community musicians to learn and play orchestral music together, encourages school age children to become interested in music through educational programs, and performs orchestral music for the public. BBCO has rehearses weekly and performs a minimum of three concerts per year. BBCO also hosts an annual Young Artist Competition which allows young artists the opportunity to compete for cash prizes and an opportunity to perform with the orchestra.

Big Bend Model Railroad Association

This not-for-profit organization is educational in character and is a longtime member of the greater Tallahassee area. We showcase the history, art and craft of model railroading while incorporating technological advances of sights, sounds, operations and lighting. Members have crafted finely detailed portable and operational dioramas which connect to provide impressive model railroad settings. Our Divisions present their representations in size classes of "Z" Scale (1/220 actual size), "N" scale (1/160), "HO" scale (1/87), "O" scale (1/48) and "G" scale (1/24) at many community venues throughout the year.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend

Hundreds of children in the Big Bend need a caring adult role model. When children and teens have the influence of a caring adult, they are more likely to avoid risky behaviors and to focus on academics. Today's youth face a variety of challenges, and being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister can help them navigate these challenges and reach their potential. WE NEED MALE MENTORS! Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend currently has over 300 children on our waiting list to be matched with a mentor. 70% percent of those children are young boys in need of a male mentor. Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum

The Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum, located in Carrabelle, Florida, was established to honor and preserve the heritage of the men and women who trained at the camp during WWII. Camp Gordon Johnston opened in 1942 for the sole purpose of training Infantry Divisions and their support units in amphibious operations by U. S. Army Engineer Special Brigades [ESB]. This camp trained a quarter of a million men, closing in June of 1946. Three infantry divisions and two special brigades left here after receiving amphibious training to confront tyranny both in Europe and the Pacific. Learn about their dedication, fears and heroism at our museum. The sacrifices and achievements of our WWII era citizens have led historians to label these individuals as the best generation America has yet produced. We feel it would be a tragedy not to display their accomplishments as a worthy lesson for today’s citizens. To this extent the museum promotes not only the history of WWII, but also portrays the gigantic effort that our nation poured into this conflict. The CGJ Museum has compiled an extensive history of the various units that trained here, as well as a photographic display of the area and life as it existed at the camp. Furthermore, the CGJ veterans have contributed the artifacts brought back from battles overseas, along with uniforms, equipment, and all sorts of souvenirs, too numerous to name. Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm. Closed Sundays & Mondays.

Canopy Arts Collaborative

Canopy Arts was created to bring artists and the arts together for mutual benefit. We are also the home of MusicLand Co-op, so check us out on the weekly music page. We are a Florida tax-exempt nonprofit corporation based in Tallahassee, Florida. Donations to our programs are tax-deductible and help small arts organizations find space for practice and recital space, performance, workshops, talking circles and discussion groups. We are the home of MusicLand Co-op, one of Tallahassee’s true Listening Rooms. MusicLand hosts a seasonal performance schedule featuring local and touring artists. Our goal is to bring the arts and artists together across a wide range of performing, visual and literary genre to explore mutually beneficial programs that enhance creativity, knowledge of music origins, and the technical elements of performance while increasing the opportunities for artists to exhibit their work.

Canopy Road Men's Chorale

The Canopy Road Men's Chorale is celebrating its inaugural season! Under the artistic direction of Dr. Kevin Fenton, the CRMC is a volunteer choral ensemble comprised of men ages 18 to 60+. The Chorale rehearses for one month and produces a concert for the purpose of raising money for a charity in the greater Tallahassee area. For the 2019 season, the Chorale is supporting the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch.
