Wiregrass Gallery Visiting Artist: Laura Floyd

Laura Floyd is fairly certain she is part critter, so it is no surprise that commercial pet portraits become something her artistic preferences honed in on; however, after being given the opportunity to pause and truly immerse herself in her artwork, her background of teaching art and yoga as her years of doing non-profit work has broadened her intent on creating an expression and environment that evokes curiosity and vulnerability. Laura strives to create something easily accessible, familiar, and soulful, mixed with a bit of edge that leaves her viewers curious. Since transitioning to more personal and less commercial work, Laura has found great joy in her recent exploration of multimedia and themes of growth, joy, strangeness, and meditation drawings, which she conceived during the 2020 lockdowns.
