During the Great Depression and Jim Crow Era, African Americans were looking for jobs and trying to survive, in spite of limited resources and equal opportunities.
Willie L. Bryant escaped the impoverished living conditions of his childhood through education with the encouragement of his mother who supported her seven children by working several domestic jobs. After graduation from high school, Mr. Bryant attended Florida A&M University (FAMU). After graduation from FAMU in 1961, he enlisted and served as an officer in the U.S. Army.
