Warrior Women

Presented by the FSU Faculty Ciné-Social and the FSU Department of Art History in honor of Native American Heritage Month. Curated and introduced by Dr. Kristin Dowell, Associate Professor of Contemporary Native American. Art & Film.

Directed by Christina King and Elizabeth Castle, Warrior Women is the untold story of the American Indian Movement activists who fought for civil rights in the 1970s, and is anchored by the story of Madonna Thunder Hawk (Lakota), one such AIM leader. Madonna and her daughter Marcy are still at the forefront of Native issues, fighting against the environmental devastation of the Dakota Access Pipeline and for Indigenous cultural values.
