Visiting Artist of July, Nathan Pye

Nathan Pye is the month of July’s Visiting Artist at The Wiregrass Gallery. Pye is an artist from North Florida, who has created a collection of pieces centered around landscapes and influential African American figures. Pye’s relationship with art dates to his mother’s kitchen table, a place where he developed his drawing skills and studied the technique of other artists. Aside from his own talent, Pye’s older brother Jerome was a fellow artist that encouraged his brother and has been a source of support over the years. “I am connected to the people, places, and nature of our region through my family roots and upbringing”, Pye says. His love for the community is evident through his mediums and attention to detail. From 2012-2015, Nathan Pye has participated in over eight exhibitions and has been a recipient of numerous awards in Quincy, FL and Tallahassee, FL.
