Valentines Contra Dance feat. Vicki Morrison & Long Forgotten String Band

Tallahassee community contra dances have resumed in the Senior Center Ballroom on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month! Contra dancing is a beginner-friendly American folk dance for all ages. It shares many moves with square dancing (such as swing your partner and do-si-do) and is danced in long lines to live music. The bands and callers vary each night. Come alone or bring friends–no partner or experience required. Those new to contra dancing are strongly encouraged to come by 7:15 when a Beginner Lesson will be taught, and as dances are taught in more detail early in the evening. Wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes. In anticipation of Valentine’s Day we’ll have a chocolate fountain flowing, and dancers are encouraged to bring dippable items to share (fruit, marshmallows, baked goods, etc.). Wear red or pink too if you feel so inclined!
