Tofurkey Jamboree featuring Mike Rychlik and Friends

Mike Rychlik has outdone himself in putting together a unique and exciting show for November 16th. We’ve done Tofurkey Jams in the past at MusicLand, but this one has got a message of thanks that I hope our community can all get behind.

A life threatening accident left a mother and son with severe injuries. A three year old grandson, Marius Cecil, was paralyzed in the accident, and his Mom Caylin was so injured she could not care for him. A “Make Marius Mobile” fund was created to help Marius and his family, and of course family friends in Tallahassee joined in. All proceeds from this Tofurkey Jam will go to the “Make Marius Mobile” fund.

Marius is paralyzed after the accident, so grandparents Eli and Stephany (Eli grew up at the Land Co-op and attended SAIL High School) have jumped in and began coordinating the cutting edge medical therapy that would be needed to help their grandson regain some of his motion.

Marius’ therapy is already showing progress. Eli and Stephany spent three weeks on Oahu training with medical staff and physical therapists so that they could provide all the care, tube-feeding, medications and therapy that Marius now requires. They may need to remodel their home to meet his new physical needs, add a chair lift to their second-story home, or even move to another island to have better access to the resources he needs. They are at the beginning of a new journey and need help from family and friends.

MusicLand has organized this a donation show, so all proceeds could go to the family. We’re asking for a $15 minimum donation, but feel free to give a little more if you can.  A silent auction of original art is also planned so bring your checkbook!  You might find a treasure as well as some great live music.
