The Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University Harambee Festival was developed to ignite a rebirth of culture, history, and education to the Tallahassee local community and surrounding counties in celebration of Black History Month. The FAMU Harambee Festival in partnership with the City of Tallahassee, will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Cascades Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival will inspire, educate, and honor the dynamic contributions of African Americans throughout history offering a plethora of exciting events, musical performances, and cultural art. FAMU’s Harambee Festival will attract more than 5,000 patrons, students, and alumni in the North Florida Region. This community-wide cultural celebration will showcase all of FAMU’s various schools and colleges in an effort to enhance the University’s recruitment and student retainment efforts. The university faculty, student organizations, volunteers, and staff will exemplify the meaning of Harambee, “let’s pull together,” to deliver “Excellence with Caring,” by providing a safe and memorable event that will inspire FAMUly and unity in the community for years to come.
