Tallahassee Bach Parley "Remembering Our Roots"

For the final Bach Parley concert this season, we are excited to introduce the Bach Parley Chamber Singers—a twelve voice choir. When the Bach Parley began in 1981, it was primarily a vocal group, however, in recent years the Parley has focused on music on period instruments with occasional vocal soloists.

The program will begin with two short 16th century instrumental pieces by William Lawes and Christopher Tye, which will tie in with the perennial favorite If Ye Love Me by Thomas Tallis sung by the Bach Parley Chamber Singers.

Also on the program will be a Bach sonata for flute, violin, and continuo, and Carla Connors will sing the soprano solo of Bach Cantata BWV 82a, I Have Enough, in honor of Bach Parley founder Karyl Louwenaar Lueck, who died in March of 2016.

For the finale, the Bach Parley Chamber Choir will join with the strings and continuo for two works by Henry Purcell, Thou Knowest Lord and Rejoice in the Lord Alway.

We want to remember our roots as well as celebrate our audience today, and all are invited to a membership reception in Alfriend Hall after the concert.
