Kids can immerse themselves in the fun, unpredictable and wild world of Improv for two weeks at Making Light’s MAKE A SCENE IMPROV CAMP! For two weeks (June 20-July 1 – two week commitment required) campers learn how to create characters, build scenes and tell stories – completely from their own imaginations – these campers will not only become better performers but strengthen reading comprehension skills, develop problem solving abilities and MAKE FRIENDS! Each morning begins with a check-in and welcome meeting before moving on to morning warm-up games and exercises. When weather permits, campers will take a morning walk in the adjacent park and participate in some outdoor games and activities. After morning warm-ups, students will work on scene- and character-building, developing their ideas into full-blown stories. Prop comedy, crazy costumes, miming and more are all a part of our two-week improv camp. The final day of camp – July 1 – we will celebrate all we’ve learned to do with a “Making Light Live” improv performance! Campers who wish to spend the whole day with us can also sign up for the COULD YOU HUG A CACTUS afternoon musical theatre camp. To keep everyone healthy and safe, the maximum number of campers is 18 for this week. Please note that your camper’s spot is not guaranteed until a 50% tuition deposit is paid.
