Street Sha’abi is a popular style of dance born in the streets of Cairo, Egypt. Also known as Mahragan or Mahrahanat Sha’abi, this fun, high-energy dance is highly influenced by American hip-hop and Cairo street culture.
In this workshop, students will learn typical moves and combinations that they can insert in their own improvisations and choreographies, as well as relevant cultural information about this dance form. While students of Middle Eastern dance will find this workshop of particular interest, dancers of all backgrounds are welcome to attend.
