The Museum of Florida History presents the Spirits of the Passage: The Story of the Transatlantic Slave Trade exhibition, produced by the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum in Key West.
This powerful exhibition takes visitors through the history of the slave trade and its lasting impact on American society. Beginning on the African continent, the exhibition introduces different cultures through religious and art objects. The story then explores the largest forced migration in history as people were taken from their homelands, packed into the hulls of ships for a harrowing voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, and sold into bondage in the New World.
