Soft Pastel Painting

This class is designed for beginners to intermediate students. If you have some background this can be helpful. This class will provide hands on instruction in preparing surfaces, color mixing, drawing and fixing. We will use a variety of techniques from underpainting and watercolor background techniques. Students in this class will work from still life setups, live portrait models, and photographs. Two basic types of pastel painting will be explored, soft pastel and oil pastel. The types and quality of each type of pastel can vary quite a bit. In the class we will discuss the many different types of pastel and surfaces and may decide to obtain some of the different types and quality of materials.
