The Florida Humanities Council and the Smithsonian Museum have selected the Apalachicola Arsenal Museum to host the prestigious MoMs exhibit “Water/Ways”. Our world is made of water and, so are we. Water/Ways is an exhibition that takes a deep look at this essential component of life on our planet, which powers the environment’s engine, impacts climate and helps shape and sculpt the landscape. Humans and animals rely on water for health, hydration, food supplies and hygiene. Americans are connected to water in ways they may not always realize. Water connects everyone. The exhibit includes interactive activities as well as descriptive ways water is utilized by our world. In addition to the Smithsonian, a photography exhibit on the Apalachicola River Area has been provided by award-winning photographer, Clyde Butcher. Along with this display are stories from local individuals in the “Our Water, Our Lives” exhibit as well as over 50 hand-painted wooden water drops designed by artists from throughout Leon and Gadsden County. The Water Drop Project allows for bidding on each of the amazing artworks created on the theme of “water”. The Apalachicola Arsenal Museum is located at 1071 Pecan Lane, Chattahoochee, on the grounds of Florida State Hospital. The Museum is open from Tuesday-Thursday from 10-3 and on Saturday from 10-3. Admission is free. Masks are required. The exhibit runs from August 28 through October 23. Events scheduled around the exhibit can be found on the Apalachicola Arsenal Museum Historical Society Facebook page.
