Perceptions: Encounters with African Art

“Perceptions: Encounters with African Art” (Oct. 7-Nov. 8) will examine some of the ways outside cultures interpret African art, and it will showcase FAMU’s Fine Arts collection and current student artwork.

“Perceptions: Encounters with African Art” is a visually-stimulating exhibition combining artwork from both FAMU’s Fine Arts Collection and students in Visual Arts classes. The goal of this small exhibition is to examine some of the ways outside cultures interpret African art. This will be accomplished through didactic labels written by students in the African Art History course and student artwork based on different assignments in the fine arts courses.
