In the Red and Brown Water - by Tarell Alvin McCraney

An intoxicating story that charts a young girl’s thrust into womanhood and her subsequent fall into the murky waters of life.

Oya is a teenager growing up in the projects in Louisiana.  As a high school track star, she has the chance to escape poverty with a full scholarship to college, but sacrifices her ambition to stay home to care for her ailing mother.  Written by the Academy Award-winning writer of “Moonlight,” this lyrical and intoxicating story explores love, loss, hope and sadness.

Contains strong language.  Recommended for ages 13 and older.
