History in Your Hands Historical Map

Through hundreds of archival photos and source document links available online at TLCGIS.org/history, residents can explore historical neighborhood maps, learn about historical names and faces, view way markers and launch self-guided history tours.

If you're planning to stay home this spring break, tour local history virtually with Leon County's new History in Your Hands Historical Mapping resource. The new mapping resource offers 19 total maps that span over 400 years of local history.   1. I notice that on Waymarkers the Governor Dan McCarty/Sabal Palmetto State Tree marker is not located . It is on the Adams Street side of the Capitol in the southwest corner right next to the Governor's office.

    The state tree is an important Florida symbol and Governor McCarty was an early innovator in modernizing Florida government. History buffs will be interested in this small but significant
