History at High Noon—The History of Bohíos

Speaker: Dr. Paul Niell, Associate Professor, Florida State Univeristy

Dr. Paul Niell examines the function and history of the bohío house form, an Indigenous form originally recorded by the Spanish among the populations of the Caribbean. Over the centuries the form has undergone many transformations, from its Native origins to its modern/colonial incarnations. Today, it remains a proven and ecologically sound way of living in the Caribbean climate.
