A master of color and composition, self-taught artist "Mr Eddy" Mumma created highly stylized paintings that vibrate with emotion. Unknown during his time, this reclusive artist's imaginative works are now in major museums like the Smithsonian and the High Museum. On display in the Bates Permanent Collection Gallery throughout 2023 is a selection of Mumma's expressive portraits from the Gadsden Arts Permanent Collection.
