Matteo Garrone’s “Dogman” is a compelling portrait of a criminal dogsbody. Inspired by a true case, it is a lovely and dark Italian film.
Marcello is a mild-mannered dog groomer who commits petty crimes for Simoncino, a former boxer who terrorizes the neighborhood. When Simoncino's abuse brings Marcello to the breaking point, he finally decides to take matters into his own hands. This leads him to submit to an unexpected act of vengeance.
