Constructing a Stepping Stone

Steppingstones for the yard or garden can be handmade and decorated with bits of glass, ceramic, or other objects. In this class, students will cast their own steppingstone out of mortar, then prepare a mosaic decoration for the surface and secure it with grout. Everyone will learn to safely cut or break the glass, mix mortar, and apply the grout. Glass will be supplied, although students may bring other objects (pebbles, ceramic pieces, etc.). Safety gear will be provided (gloves and N95 masks).
