Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the bluest of them all? Well, its Beautiful Bobby Blackmon & The B3 Band, returning to the BBC! This 4 piece is fronted by Bobby Blackmon whose silky smooth soulful vocals and solid but understated guitar are a perfect match for the jook. Bobby’s blues are influenced by his southern Texas roots and Florida home which produce a blended style of rootsy blues, deep south soul, smooth R&B and rollicking rug-cuttin music. A club favorite, he’s a real character, charmer, an accomplished songwriter, singer, gifted guitar player and entertainer who gave up his steady white collar job to pursue his blues passion. He’s backed up by longtime band members Smilin’ Jack Bumgarner on vocals and keyboards and with Jimmy Seay on bass. Living Blues says that “Blackmon sounds as if he’s wailing his tale from a dark corner of a whiskey scented juke”. Well the BBC ain’t got whiskey but we sho’ nuff have the scent of decades of beer wafting through the joint! This is really good stuff!
