Animation Camp for High School Students

Presented by Create! Tallahassee at Lasso the Moon Studios, Tallahassee FL

Jun 03 - 07 2019
Animation Camp for High School Students

So you want to be an animator? Using pencils and pixels, you will be introduced to the art of animation and learn how to create the illusion of life.

In this week long summer camp, you will create your very own animated stories using both traditional, hand-drawn animation and cutting-edge computer animation. You’ll use the same tools and techniques that are used in studios such as Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks. In this introductory class, you will be guided through the animation process in a simple, step-by-step fashion, bringing your stories to life!

ADMISSION INFO

WHO?

High school students, ages 14-19.

WHAT?

The focus of the camp will be on the heart of animation - storytelling. For the hand-drawn animation portion of the camp, the drawings will be kept simple so you can concentrate on the principles of animation - no need to worry about your level of draftsmanship. For computer animation, you’ll develop your own character, using custom and built-in tools, animating them in Autodesk Maya. By the end of the camp, you will have created several small movies that you can proudly show to your family and friends.

WHEN?

Week-long, half-day workshops, starting June 3rd, from 1:00-4:00

WHERE?

The camp will be held at Lasso the Moon Studios, located on Raymond Diehl Road across from Outback Steakhouse.

All animation supplies will be provided. This course is designed to be an entry-point to animation so no previous experience is necessary – just a passion for the art of animation and a willingness to step into the role of animator.
