Abuelos ("Grandpas")

A personal journey in search of two grandfathers. Remo, self taught Ecuadorian doctor who wants to discover immortality. Juan, communist militant who was assassinated during the Chilean military dictatorship in 1973. A granddaughter who grows between exile and a magical universe. Two stories, a close one and a buried one. Two dreams reflected in two landscapes, one with leafy mountains and another arid and deserted.

Before the feature film we will screen Yo Miro Para Adelante (I look ahead), a short film by FSU student Carolina Caballero showing the stories of two immigrant Latina women who came to this country to build a better future, 40 years apart.

This will be the closing event of Cinehassee—Tallahassee’s first Hispanic Film Festival. After the film we will have the opportunity to have a conversation with the short film director through a panel discussion.  All of it is free of charge and we hope to count with your presence!
