12th Annual Spring Literary Forum Series at FAMU: "Toni Morrison: The Culture Bearer as Foundation"

Toni Morrison (1931-2019) was one of this country’s most prolific storytellers. In her eleven novels and essay collections, she sought to present the beauty, joy, and pain experienced in African-American life.  To this date, she is the only black writer from the United States of America who has received the prestigious Nobel Prize in Literature. She was also the recipient of the following awards: American Book Award, Pulitzer Prize, National Book Critics Circle Award, Presidential Medal of Freedom, American Book Award, and Commander of Arts and Letters (Paris).
