The Moonchildren is a new one-act play by Liam Wirsansky that navigates the mystifying world of two children on a ship escaping an imminent climate catastrophe that threatens their home and others around it. Exploring ideas such as dual power, language, art, and more, these siblings investigate the outer forces that control society as we know it, confounding on opposing forces, such as capital and labor, through playful and philosophic discussions and games. The Moonchildren seeks to identify some of the decaying mechanisms of capitalism that we can see affecting American hegemony and their influence on the world today, illustrating its massive influence and its conforming consequences on the future if change does not present itself.

Moonchildren Cast:
FINN – An intelligent young spirit who is encapsulated by the beauty of language and the power words hold. FINN often takes charge in their relationship with WILLOW, often being forced to restrain WILLOW’s imaginative behavior to ensure their safety and survival together. FINN and WILLOW are siblings and have a youthful way about the way they act and carry themselves.

WILLOW – A wily and sometimes reckless young spirit, WILLOW thrives off of a very strong creative imagination and questionable indignation for rules. WILLOW loves FINN, but also knows what buttons to push in their relationship and enjoys annoying FINN. FINN and WILLOW are siblings and have a youthful way about the way they act and carry themselves.

WATCH – A very stern rule follower, who works on the ship and is an enforcer of the law. A bit peculiar in the way they conduct and hold themselves, WATCH remains to be inventive and cunningly whimsical in the way they carry about their business and duties.
