Mission San Luis, a 50-acre living history museum located in Tallahassee, Florida, is seeking a part-time Visitor Services Assistant to staff the El Mercado gift shop located in the Visitor Center. The Visitor Services Assistant must be able to provide excellent customer service to guests.

Work hours: Up to 28 hrs/week
Schedule: Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, based on the normal hours of operation for the Museum, which are Tuesday-Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and occasionally special events during evening hours up until 9:00 pm.
Pay: $ 13.50/hr

Duties:
• Collect admission fees and check membership list as visitors enter
• Provide excellent customer service to all visitors to the museum
• Staff the Visitor Welcome desk / El Mercado gift shop
• Check in tour groups, collect their fees, and orient them to museum
• Conduct opening and closing procedures for Visitor Center and El Mercado gift shop
• Complete sales transactions for El Mercado gift shop
• Assist gift shop manager with El Mercado gift shop merchandise deliveries, pricing, inventory, adding merchandise to the point of sale system, and inventory
• Assist gift shop manager with scheduling educational tours; generating invoices, sending welcome letters and emails, and organizing documentation related to tour fee invoices and payments and scheduling
• Maintain daily visitor statistics and other requested reports
• Enforce museum policies (such as no food or drink in the exhibits)
• Other office and administrative duties as directed by supervisor
Minimum qualifications:
• High school diploma
• Familiarity with desktop computer applications
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and some evenings
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience working in a retail store
• Experience working or volunteering in a museum or museum store
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Ability to learn and follow Department of State and Mission San Luis policies and procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to lift, carry, and/or push items up to 30 pounds
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, reach, stretch and/or twist
